Unlike my older, wiser sister. This is my first time to take on Apartment Therapy’s Style Cure. I’m going to live blog it to the best of my abilities with the understanding that I will get distracted halfway through.
So Day 1 started off with a Style Interview which was equal parts enlightening and embarrassing. My taste is all over the place but i lean towards shiny, colorful, interesting, and old. This probably explains why all of my favorite furniture comes from consignment stores.
After that we were tasked with going out and finding things we love. Emily already did a decent job of showing off her style in the previous post but now I want to show mine.
First interesting plants:
Then the interesting home accessories including obligatory throw pillows
And finally the furniture I actually bought at a consignment store (my absolute favorite consignment store. I got my dining room table and chairs from there, way back in the day)
Two mahogany dressers and a red oak headboard. The best part is that they agreed to deliver it all for only $60! The boyfriend now owes me dinner because he doesn’t have to carry all that up the stairs to my apartment.
Last but not least the ones that got away… desks
The writing desk isn’t practical for a desktop computer and the partner desk was sold by time I made up my mind and returned to the store. I’m still holding out that Mum will buy the writing desk so someday I can inherit it when I have a place of my own.
This emphasizes the family truth that most of our “heirlooms” came from other people’s garage sales. I’m totally okay with that.
