So last Thursday, Mum and I decided it would be a great idea to buy a box of local, organic, vegetables from a local co-op. The moral of this story is that I now have to learn how to eat/cook with things that aren’t variations on pasta in a box.
We’re starting our adventures with Kale chips. Because of course we are.
Mum had relative success with the Kale Chips. I am notoriously bad at following directions. But I try real hard.
So here’s how it went down.
Kale + olive oil + salt + ground chipotle pepper.
And that’s where I made my first mistake. You see, all of the recipes call for sea salt. I just had table salt. So my chips were way way wayyyy to salty. The chipotle pepper was a nice touch though. I mixed it all together. I did not measure anything, on principle.
The next step is spreading them out on a baking pan and ovening them at 300 for 20 min.
They got mostly crispy (except for the ones in the middle)
So I ate a few and they were tasty. A neighbor came over and had a few more. I ended up throwing them out because they started to get soggy on day 2 even with paper bag storage. Better luck next time.
Side note: Complicating the whole “ovening” things is the fact that my oven mitt, while adorable, is almost entirely useless for picking up anything.
